自秦朝设县治以来，至今已有2200多年的历史。杭州是华夏文明的发祥地之一，早在8000多年前，就有人类在此繁衍生息。距今5000多年的良渚文化被史界称为“文明的曙光”。
杭州曾是五代吴越国和南宋王朝两代建都地，被13世纪意大利旅行家马可•波罗赞叹为“世界上最 美丽华贵之城”。

英语四级考试翻译技巧有哪些
一、引申法
1. They have their smiles and tears.
他们有自己的欢乐与悲伤。
●原句中的smiles and tears本来是“微笑和眼泪”，但是可以引申为抽象的“欢乐与悲伤”。
二、转换法
转换法是指在翻译过程中，根据译文语言的习惯进行相关的转变。
1. They will miss the ritual interaction that goes with a welcoming cup of tea or coffee that may be a convention in their own country.
他们会怀念那种喝着茶或咖啡招待客人的礼节性交往，而这种交往也许是他们自己国家的一种习俗(名—动)
●英语中的名词“cup of tea or coffee”，转换成了中文中的动词“喝着茶或咖啡”。
三、增补译法与省略译法
1. He was wrinkled and black, with scant gray hair.他满脸皱纹，皮肤很黑，头发灰白稀疏。(增补)
●形容词前加上名“满脸”和“皮肤”，又将wrinkled转译成名词“皱纹”，译文就显得生动贴切。
2. He left soon after dinner,but not ti go home.
吃过晚饭后不久，他就告辞了，但并没有马上回家。(增补)
●译文中增加了动词“吃”，表示这他完成了这个动作，从而使得译文更加完整。
